Is your business compliant with the new bookkeeping law?
Is your business ready for digital storage and bookkeeping from 2024?
On May 19, 2022, the Danish Parliament adopted a new Bookkeeping Act that requires companies to perform digital bookkeeping and digital storage. This means that companies’ bookkeeping and storage of documents must be done digitally from 2024 and subsequently other companies and associations with an annual net turnover of more than DKK 300,000 for two consecutive years.
Overall, the purpose of the new Bookkeeping Act 2022 is to facilitate companies’ administrative work through digitization and automation. It also streamlines the public authorities’ ability to control bookkeeping, making it easier for authorities to find and intervene against errors, tax evasion and financial crime.
Digital storage and bookkeeping saves time and physical storage space and ensures that your business complies with the new regulations.

New requirements for digital bookkeeping systems
The final guidelines for the new Bookkeeping Act have not yet been fully announced by the Danish Business Authority. There will therefore be further details to come, including:
- The requirements for functionality in digital accounting systems
- How accounting systems should communicate with public systems
At Pivot Partner, we only work with accounting systems that have already announced that they comply, or will comply, with the new legal requirements and future regulations. This includes Uniconta, e-conomic and Business Central 365.
The above is not an exhaustive review of the new Bookkeeping Act.
